How To Use Your Meat Bandsaw

Bandsaw Operation - Use

Using a bandsaw requires careful setup and operation to ensure both safety and accurate cuts. We recommend that trying all types of meat cuts of different sizes to gain experience wielding this kind of equipment, gauge movement, train dexterity, increase skill, and understand how to obtain the ideal cutting capacity.

Here's a step-by-step guide on how to use a bandsaw:

Safety Gear

Wear appropriate safety gear, including Protective Cut Resistant gloves, avoid loose clothing and tie back long hair.

It is safest to use this equipment without any distractions and with maximum concentration.

 Protective Cut Resistant gloves

1) Set Up the Bandsaw
  • Place the bandsaw on a stable and level surface.
  • Choose the appropriate blade for the material being cut (there is a blade for General use for unfrozen meats and a blade for Frozen Meats)
  • Adjust the blade tension (turnbuckle): Too little tension will cause the blades to wave and bend and too much tension will break the blade.
  • Ensure the blade is properly installed and centered on the wheels/in line. This will prevent friction on the blade’s edges.
2) Adjust the Cut-Guide
  • Set the Cut-Guide to the desired distance from the blade for straight cuts.
  • Ensure the fence is parallel to the blade.

3) Test Cut

  • Perform a test cut on a scrap piece of material to ensure everything is set up correctly.
4) Turn on the Bandsaw
  • Ensure the blade is not in contact with the material before turning on the bandsaw.
  • Wait for the blade to reach full speed before making a cut.

5) Feed the Material

  • Feed the material slowly into the blade.
  • Keep a firm grip on the material and maintain a steady feed rate.

6) Turn Off the Bandsaw

  • After completing the cut, wait for the blade to come to a complete stop before removing the material.

7) Clean Up

  • Remove any cutoffs and debris from the work area.
  • Sanitize the machine and work area.
  • Turn off the bandsaw and unplug it when not in use.

Always follow the safety guidelines provided and use common sense when operating a bandsaw.

If you are unfamiliar with the bandsaw or its operation, seek guidance from someone experienced or a professional before use.

Important Tips

  • This bandsaw works with “4 inch” sequence.
  • When cutting the meat, be sure to adjust the upper and lower bearing wheels.
  • Do not press or push the meat with the blade. Pushing the meat with the Bandsaw Blade may cause it to lean and twist over. Let the blade carry out the meat, not the other way around.
  • When using the band polisher, be careful not to let it touch the edges of the bands as this can erode the Bandsaw Blades.
